Interact MUN at C. M. Academy builds confidence and global awareness

Rotary Club of Bharuch, in association with Rotaract District 3060 and Rotaract Club of Bharuch, successfully hosted Interact Model United Nations (IMUN) Ankleshwar Chapter II at C. M. Academy, Ankleshwar, on 29–30 November 2025, engaging nearly 400 students from Classes 6 to 12 in a two-day immersive simulation of global and national governance.
This was the second Interact MUN conference hosted at C. M. Academy, reflecting the institution’s continued commitment to experiential learning. Significantly, over 80 percent of the participants were first-time MUN delegates, making the conference a foundational exposure to diplomacy, public speaking, negotiation, and leadership.

Six Committees, Contemporary Agendas
The conference simulated six committees, each addressing pressing global and national concerns:
• United Nations Security Council (UNSC):
Delegates debated threats to international peace and security arising from AI-driven cyberattacks, misinformation, and deepfake manipulation, exploring how technology reshapes modern warfare and diplomacy.
• United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW):
Discussions focused on addressing gender-based violence in conflict zones and refugee camps, with emphasis on international cooperation and humanitarian accountability.
• Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC):
Delegates examined frameworks for controlling the spread of illegal weapons, analysing enforcement challenges and regional security implications.
• United Nations General Assembly (UNGA):
Broad deliberations were held on strengthening multilateral cooperation to address global challenges.
• Lok Sabha:
The Indian parliamentary simulation debated the National Sports Governance Act, allowing students to understand legislative procedures, accountability, and policy reform within a democratic framework.
• International Press (IP):
Student journalists covered all committees and conducted press conferences for each committee, questioning delegates and leadership, and learning the importance of responsible journalism and media ethics.
Throughout the two days, delegates engaged in moderated and unmoderated caucuses, resolution drafting, lobbying, and negotiations under the guidance of an experienced Executive Board.

Inauguration and Distinguished Presence
The inauguration featured cultural performances by students of C. M. Academy, followed by addresses from Rotary, Rotaract, and school dignitaries.
The conference was graced by Rtn. Dushyant Patel, State In-charge for Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, as Chief Guest. Having previously served as Deputy Chief Whip, he brought valuable real-world legislative insight to the parliamentary and diplomatic discussions.
Addressing the delegates, he remarked:
“What you are practicing here, debate, disagreement, negotiation, and consensus is exactly how governance works in the real world. If you learn to listen before you speak, you will already be ahead as future leaders.”
Rtn. CA Bhavesh Hariyani, President of Rotary Club of Bharuch, welcomed the gathering and highlighted Rotary’s role in nurturing youth leadership. District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Ruchit Mehta, Guest of Honor, encouraged students to use such platforms to build clarity of thought, confidence, and civic responsibility.
The school leadership, Principal Mr. Ramjee Nagarajan and Vice-Principal Mr. Srinivas Nikhade, appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of learning beyond textbooks.

Rotary–Rotaract Leadership and Vision
The conference was led by Rtr. Harsh Vipul Thakkar, Founder-President of the IMUN Organisation. A Rotaractor from Rotaract Club of Bharuch, alumnus of C. M. Academy, and District Avenues Chair, Rotaract District 3060, he will also serve as District Secretary Executive, Rotaract District 3060, in the upcoming Rotary year.
Sharing his perspective, he said:
“Interact MUN is not about producing perfect speeches. It is about giving students especially first-timers the confidence to speak up, question responsibly, and understand that leadership begins with awareness.”
Rotarians and Rotaractors actively supported the conference through mentorship, coordination, and guidance, reinforcing Rotary’s sustained investment in youth development.

Beneficiary Voices
The impact of the conference was reflected in feedback from participants and parents.
Kavya Patel, a student delegate, shared:
“As the delegate of Pakistan in the UNSC committee, I had an incredible experience debating threats to international peace and security arising from artificial intelligence–driven cyberattacks, misinformation, and deepfake manipulation. My biggest success was navigating the lobbying process to secure three co-sponsors for our resolution. It was a rigorous and rewarding week that significantly boosted my negotiation and research skills.”
A parent, Purvi Shah, noted:
“It was the first time participation for my daughter, and she had a wonderful experience. She learned many new things. Participation in Interact MUN has boosted her confidence. This two-day event was a grand success.”

Impact and Way Forward
IMUN Ankleshwar Chapter II demonstrated how Rotary-supported youth initiatives can create meaningful educational impact at scale. By engaging 400 students, most of them first-time participants, the conference strengthened leadership skills, global awareness, and confidence among young learners.
The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of Rotary Club of Bharuch, Rotaract District 3060, and Rotaract Club of Bharuch to building informed, articulate, and responsible future citizens.
High-resolution photographs highlighting committee sessions and student engagement will be attached separately.
