Secretary, Rotaract Club of Dombivli Suncity

On December 06, 2020, Rotaract club of Dombivli Suncity, RID 3142 organised Model Indian Parliamentary Session (a simulation of the Indian Parliament). The event was co-hosted by the Rotary club of Dombivli Suncity. This was an online event conducted on video calling platform Zoom.
The main aim was create an awareness about the functioning of the Indian Parliamentary system and inspire youth to take interest in the same. This event came with training the participating youth and delegation of tasks to them which made them follow the current affairs of the country.
The members were divided into political parties, namely, the Rightist, the Left wing, the Centrist, and the Independents. The Speaker of the House was Mr. Murali Subramanian, a professional NLP practitioner. The event was judged by Rtn. Vinesh Nair and Mr. Rishab Bhandari. The trainer for the entire MIPS was Rtr. Rishab Murali.

The event started with address by guests Dr. Shrikant Shinde (Loksabha MP), Dr. Vikas Mahatme (Rajyasabha MP) and Dr. Sandeep Kadam (District Governor, RID 3142).

The session commenced with Question Hour wherein the ministers impressed the judges with their answers and preparedness. This was followed by presentation of the bill “Uniform Civil Code” by the ruling party ( followed by a series of questions and answers and a healthy debate. The bill was passed by a good standing majority.
Later Bill 2 “Simultaneous Elections was taken up”. We had a Zero hour session wherein the current affairs were discussed and we witnessed some healthy discussion and arguments. Lastly we had one of the ministers presenting the third bill “No-cost Mentrual products” which was passed after ammendment.

The session ended with felicitation of the judges, speaker, trainer, guests and winners of the event.
A total of 47 people participated as members of the Parliament. We had participants from Jharkhand, and various regions of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Sangli and Pune.
